Our university competition winner announced at Surface Design Show

We have always been a supporter of British design, recognising the importance of nurturing new talent coming up in the industry.

Helping to develop the next generation of designers, we invited Textile Practice (Surface Design) students at the University of Huddersfield to create a piece of artwork that could be translated into a wallpaper for a Fardis collection.

The designs shown at the Surface Design Show, London (10-12 February 2015), took inspiration from different areas – including the natural world, traditional baroque motifs, and paint effects.

Students were given six weeks to produce a hand crafted physical piece of artwork (as opposed to a flat CAD print), along with evidence of colour and trend research in the form of mood boards and sketch books.

The winning designer was Hannah Shrigley, who wins a work placement in our Design Studio.

Matt Hayes, Design & Studio Manager for the Muraspec Group, comments: “Hannah met every aspect of the brief and her entries displayed a good understanding of design in keeping with the Muraspec Group ethos. We look forward to welcoming her when she carries out her work placement in the Design Studio.”

Congratulations to Hannah and all of our participating students for their amazing designs.
