A hotel interior of snow and ice

The 25th Icehotel is a stunning twist on hospitality, with snow and ice (or ‘snice’) being moulded into all sorts of artistic forms for a striking effect.

Built from over 30,000 tonnes of snice, the hotel is located in the Arctic Circle, where a collection of designers have created unique interpretations of ice sculptures in a hotel setting.

The mixture of snow and ice has been used to produce fixtures and furniture as well as the main construction, which provides spectacular extra dimensions to the interior, which glints and glitters.

Sixty one bedrooms have been formed out of the snice, with sixteen created as special Art Suites, designed by creative teams.

These beautiful rooms include the stunning ‘Time Piece’ suite, by a Swedish design trio, a deconstruction of a timepiece with elements frozen around the fur-covered bed. Other suites include Charli Hasselbäck and John Bark’s typography-led design, which combines ‘hot type’ with ‘cold setting’ for a fun, three-dimensional look. We also love the third suite pictured, with its cute sculptured spooks playing peekaboo around the space.
