J Plus Hotel renovation

The J Plus Boutique Hotel was originally designed by the legendary Philippe Starck and was refurbished by his yoo Studio, who have taken some key colour notes and made the most of the space.

This new design is cutting-edge contemporary, with white pendant lights suspended from the ceiling to break up the bold block colours. The black and golden walls, floors, and ceilings are enhanced by accents of purple, adding a touch of modern luxury and relaxation – ideal for the ‘fast living professionals and style-conscious travellers’ for whom the hotel was designed.

The design is completed by the monochrome fabric choices: graffiti patterns and animal prints on the furniture help to balance the scheme against the eye-catching lighting.

Matthew Dalby, design director of yoo Studio, said: “In a city so synonymous with change, this iconic address is redefined and refreshed for the future. While staying sympathetic to the original cutting-edge design, this refreshed styling continues our design house’s legacy of contemporary, imaginative and sophisticated creative to surprise and delight even the most jaded traveller.”
