The ‘Cheering Restaurant’ reflects Hanoi street life

A restaurant in Hanoi reflects its bustling street life and historic environment through a stunning geometric interior design characterised by natural textures and sleek surfaces.

The design for the ‘Cheering Restaurant’, by local studio H&P Architects, incorporates a living tree within the space reaching up through the semi-open ceiling, which is in itself a striking talking point. A layered lattice of wooden slats, the ceiling lets in enough natural light for a shaded effect, while in the evening, the playful variety of depth is illuminated by twinkling suspended lighting.

The strong natural theme is also reflected in the furniture, which consists of freestanding square wooden tables and chairs. This uniform and simple look enhances the sleek appearance of the restaurant and echoes the geometric ceiling.

The counters also contribute to this atmosphere, but also add a touch of interest with sophisticated green accents, defining areas and enclosing the tree, which offers a rougher, more raw texture to contrast with the smooth, refined materials.

The design is encapsulated by glass, which lets in more natural light and connects the interior to the exterior.
