Hilton’s lifestyle brand had a clear vision for its Canopy London City hotel.  It sought to create a stylish, contemporary, and unique boutique stay for the modern traveller.

Award-winning multi-disciplinary practice, ACME approached its debut large-scale hospitality project with a respect for the local history of London’s East End textile industry.

Challenge

Combining the modern with the past, its aim was to create an iconic hotel that celebrates the melting pot of local artists and is an extension of its neighbourhood. Highly acclaimed artist, Mia Bergaron was commissioned to paint portraits of some local resident artists which would need to integrate with the wallcoverings on corridor walls of the 340-bedroom hotel.

Results

Canopy, by Hilton, achieved its stunning new pet-friendly hotel which welcomes guests to fully immerse themselves in Algate’s history steeped in art and craftsmanship. The neutral and earthy palette boasts an urban loft vibe using Metropolitan plaster-effect wallcovering, with printed portraits cleverly integrated, championing local artists, and resulting in an outstanding piece of artwork to engage and excite guests as they arrive at their hotel rooms.

The rich jewel tones of the lift lobbies with their vibrant striped pattern literally ‘elevates’ the entire scheme.  Canopy’s guests can truly enjoy their stay like a local.
