An architecture school with striking geometry

A new architecture school has been given a striking interior, with geometry dominating the vast space.

The Abedian School of Architecture in Australia was created by CRAB Studio, who designed the building ‘from the inside out’.

Shape and space are absolutely integral to this scheme, with angular concrete pillars that stretch to the high ceilings and define the extraordinary corridor that runs the length of the building, straight through its heart. The pillars give the school an open-plan feel, as well as helping to channel natural light through the corridor. The neutral greys and browns ensure these geometric elements feel intricate but not fussy, allowing for streaks of bright colour to connect spaces.

Away from the eye-catching corridor, the design is just as striking, but offers a balance of colour and shape ideal for the relaxing, social areas of the school. The furniture, which ties into the overall design with a clean, raw wood look, provides a sense of softness with rounder edges that provide an extra layer of interest to the angular fixtures.  The tables are reminiscent of three-dimensional splashes of colour, which adds a really fun, youthful feel to the design, perfect for a student hang-out.
