Designers Atelier Moderno and Anne Sophie Goneau have renovated the interior of Montreal patisserie À La Folie. This classic and open space has been created using minimalist design principles, clever lighting and bespoke display cabinets.
The 60-square-metre shop features black and white surfaces on its interior and exterior which has been designed to act as a “backdrop to the vibrancy of both the street and the pastries within”. This simple colour palette fantastically accents the beautiful and varied colours of the cakes.
The designers said: “the proprietors of the patisserie were open enough to understand that they had to step outside of their comfort zone.”
Delicious desserts are stored in glass vitrines (custom made stainless steel refrigerating units) that are illuminated by a long thin strip of LED lighting. This simple and elegant way of displaying the treats is highly effective.
We love this classic use of a monochrome palette as a chic way of emphasising the vibrant colours of the tasty treats.
