Fire safety is a key concern to Muraspec and our products are manufactured to ensure that in the event of a fire, the wallcovering does not help it spread.

All Muraspec products are tested to comply with British and French fire regulations, plus other local market regulations as required.  In the UK the majority of our wallcoverings achieve the highest grades against Fire Propagation and Surface Spread of Flame under British Standard 476 Class ‘O’ & ‘1’.  In France, the majority of our products are classified as M1.

The British and French standards will in time be replaced by a more stringent European Fire Classification – EN 13501.  Introduced in the UK in March 2003, the new and existing regulations will run in parallel for a while.  However, we have already been developing and testing our products against the new standard and many of our products already achieve Class B classification on non-combustible substrates, offering extremely good protection.
